'North Londonshire' campaign gets people talking

18.03.2010

Creative Lynx's upcoming campaign for North Northants Development Company (NNDC) has got people talking before it's even been launched! The 'North Londonshire' idea was conceived as a way to promote the region to Londonites looking for a better quality of life, more green space and more affordable housing – messages that were shared with Creative Lynx's earlier 'More in Corby' campaign for Corby, also on behalf of NNDC.

The fun wordplay strapline behind the campaign has stirred up a host of emotions amongst local residents, with comments ranging from receptive to dubious. Either way, the word is out and the campaign has already benefited from being featured on national TV news, radio debates and across a number of national and regional papers. The kind of promotion any town would die for!

And as Steve Nicholas, Director at Creative Lynx explains "Whilst some residents may initially have reservations about the campaign idea, the message really sums up the region and what it has to offer. It's a London facing campaign and follows a similar tact to the 'More in Corby' campaign which went on to win awards for being so effective. We're not trying to rebrand Northamptonshire with it's 1000's of years of history, but raise the profile of the area and encourage people to locate in the region – from research London has been identified as the ideal target market to achieve that, that's why the Corby campaign worked so well. The comments we've heard have all been positive about the region, just as our campaign is, and I think when it's launched and people see the campaign in it's entirety, opinions will be in line."
